Coups de Vents

Date Uploaded: July 10, 2015

Coups de Vents International Composition competition for symphonic wind band.

Coups de Vents Wind Orchestra, the orchestra of Pas-de-Calais, was created in June 2009, with the ambition to revitalise wind music. The orchestra is made up of music teachers from colleges and conservatories in Nord and Pas-de-Calais. CDVWO is also a perfect training centre for young composers and promising orchestra conductors. Creativity is one of their main aims. The new repertoire created through CDVWO?s various projects (competitions, public commissions, internationals partnerships?) can be performed live by the orchestra or recorded. The orchestra run a wide variety of new and innovative programmes and events in order to spark enthusiasm for all kinds of music among the public and especially among young people, through performing and sharing the music of today - contemporary, jazz and world music among others!

Philippe LANGLET, Artistic Director

Laureate of the Paris National Higher Conservatory of Music and Dance in the class of Maurice Andr?, Philippe LANGLET was Director of Symphonic Bands in Le Havre for 10 years.

He conducts regularly in many countries (USA, China, Korea, Russia ...) since 1985. He has conducted concerts or recordings of international artists (Michel Legrand, Gabriel Bacquier, Maurice Andr? ...). As a trumpet player he participated from 1973 to 1985 activities (concerts and recordings) of major symphony orchestras (Orchestre de Paris, Stage Orchestra of the Paris Opera, Ile de France National Orchestra ...).

He is now director of the Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Art in Dunkirk. His curiosity and willingness to break down all barriers lead him to create and engage in ambitious projects. He is founding president of the AFEEV (French association for development of wind ensembles) and President founder Honorary of DRaPOS (national association for the development of school bands and orchestras). He is founding director of Coups de Vents (European Research academy for research, creation and training in wind music). Philippe Langlet is Honorary Conductor of the National Wind Orchestra of Russia and Chevalier of Academic Palms.
