Do you have some experience of conducting, whether this is in brass bands, windbands or orchestras? Do you want to join a friendly local group who are interested in making music and building on our successes? Would you like to get involved in music making in South Devon? If so, then Spectrum Music Concert Windband is exactly what you are looking for.
Spectrum Music Concert Windband is a group of 40+ musicians who meet in Kingskerswell (between Newton Abbot and Torbay) every Wednesday from 7:30pm. As our name suggests, we are a diverse group in terms of age, interests, careers and playing abilities (minimum Grade 5 up to semi-professional players). However, we all share a common interest, our enjoyment of playing music together. Our name also suggests the broad spectrum of music that we play: Big Band and Jazz classics, film and show music, pop standards and Proms style pieces to name a few.
Each year, the band is booked to play at a wide range of gigs across South Devon. These range from garden parties, beer festivals and Summer fetes to more formal concerts in local churches and performance venues. These are often charity events and we also raise money for the band's chosen charity each year. In addition to this, we are often invited to perform in Newton Abbot and across Torbay, playing Christmas Carols, accompanying the turning on of the Christmas lights and supporting events such as the Newton Abbot festival. Spectrum also undertakes a weekend concert tour in September each year. In the past this has taken us to UK locations such as Bournemouth, Cardiff and Bath and also overseas to France.

The post comes with an annual honorarium to recognise the skills and experience of the successful applicant. Applications from anyone who would like to bring their talents to the band and enable us to continue its long, successful history would be very welcome.
