Home Comforts has been adopted as the theme for Nottingham Concert Band's musical evening in St Peter's Church, East Bridgford (NG13 8PE) on Saturday 13 July. Tickets are on sale now and proceeds will be donated to church funds.
Steered by Music Director Robert Parker, the 60+ members of the band are planning to present a diverse programme. Highlights will include the premiere of 'Concerto for Concert Band' by local composer David Machell and the epic 'Gallimaufry' suite, which is based on music written by Guy Woolfenden for the RSC. Between the two, the audience will be taken on a musical mystery tour before coming home via the high seas thanks to the 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.
Home Comforts will start at 7.30pm. Tickets (?8 or ?4 for u18s and the unemployed) include a glass of wine or soft drink during the interval and are available from East Bridgford Post Office and East Bridgford News. Alternatively, contact Geoff Soar on 01949 20738 or e-mail:
