The St Peter's Band, a concert band based at St Peter's by the Waterfront arts and heritage centre, is looking for a new musical director.
St Peter's Band was originally the training band of the Ipswich Hospital Band and in 2010 acquired independent status.
It meets on a Monday night from 7.15 pm - 9.00 pm and is a friendly, community band of mixed ages and musical abilities. It has an almost full enthusiastic, committed membership with few vacancies.
The band has an extensive library, is fully equipped and is actively supported by the Board of Ipswich Hospital Band Ltd.
Do you have a recognised degree or diploma in music, or are qualified by experience? Do you have the qualities to be able to keep experienced players interested, while at the same time give guidance and confidence to the less experienced players, resulting in successful music-making, pleasing both players and audiences alike?
The band rehearses throughout the year and is booked about four times a year to play at fetes and other local community events. It also performs at St Peter's by the Waterfront two or three times a year at its own concerts or concerts shared with the other associated bands at that venue.
In addition, a few social and fund-raising activities are organised within the band throughout the year.
This post attracts a modest honorarium and will commence in January 2014. Short-listed applicants will be invited to attend and lead a rehearsal and attend an interview. Full terms and conditions will be discussed at that interview.
