BASBWE Funding Opportunities
At BASBWE, we believe that our strength lies in our members – the musicians, educators, and ensembles who make up our vibrant community. As a member-led organisation, we are committed to reinvesting our resources to support the growth, creativity, and sustainability of our members’ work.
Our funding opportunities are designed to:
- Empower members to develop innovative projects, performances, commissions, and educational initiatives that advance wind music across the UK and beyond.
- Encourage collaboration by supporting partnerships between ensembles, schools, composers, and conductors.
- Promote inclusion and accessibility, ensuring that musical experiences and development opportunities are available to diverse communities.
- Recognise excellence and ambition, providing targeted support for artistic development, new commissions, and emerging talent.
Every funding initiative reflects our belief in collective progress – where the success of one member contributes to the enrichment of all.
Funding Criteria
- Membership Requirement
Applications will only be considered from current members of BASBWE.
– For music groups, a Band Membership is required.
- Application Schedule
Funding applications are reviewed quarterly at BASBWE Executive Committee meetings.
- Application Limits
Each individual or group may submit one application per financial year, regardless of the outcome.
– This includes composers or workshop leaders commissioned by multiple organisations; only one application will be accepted in total.
- Available Funds
The total funding available depends on BASBWE’s current resources and may be adjusted by the Committee at any time.
- Notification of Outcomes
Applicants will be notified of funding decisions shortly after each Committee meeting.
- Support and Advice
– BASBWE cannot check draft applications or provide feedback on submissions.
– General enquiries may still be directed to BASBWE as usual.
– BASBWE is unable to offer advice on applicants’ projects or on applying to other funding bodies.
- Application Quality
Demand for BASBWE funding is high. Applications should be original, complete, and professionally presented to be considered.
Application Process
Applicants must complete the online funding application form available on the BASBWE website.
As part of the application form, applicants will need to upload:
– A rationale (no more than one side of A4) outlining the purpose and aims of the project. Please include URL links to artists or composers involved.
– A budget providing an overview of anticipated income and expenditure.
BASBWE does not require meticulous financial detail, but applications should demonstrate that:
– Care and thought have been given to the planning of the project.
– The project is financially sound and achievable.
Applicants are encouraged to include a summary of their previous experience or track record, as a strong record lends credibility to the proposal and will support the assessment of its feasibility.
